Jane.com, my favorite online boutique, has once again asked me to share some of my favorite Halloween Games. I love a fun party and games are always my favorite.
If you are planning a party for adults or young children, these games are sure to have everyone laughing (and screaming) for more this Halloween season.

1. Murder in the Dark: (adults)

It's time to turn down the lights and put your spooky music and dim candles on.. Everyone draws a card. There are 2 murderers in a game of 15+ people. Who ever draws the Aces are the murderers. The room is darker and people are eating and talking. The murderers are trying to kill people off by not getting caught, while the party is going on! They must  (pick one whichever u chose) pinch their shoulder, touch the players palm of their hand, wink at them.. Ect. Once that person sees, they are dead and must announce 2 minutes later that they are dead. Make this sneaky so that it isn't obvious. Move around, talk to people. This makes it fun because people can still take pictures, eat, talk and participate in the other Halloween festivities at the party. People of the group (including the murderers) can make accusations and if they are wrong, they are out of the game.
The party we went to the hosts gave out $50 gift cards to the winners (the murders or the people who guessed that weren't killed off) so fun!!!

2. Pumpkin Icebreaker:
This game is so funny to watch but even more funny to do! Create two large teams and have them stand in single file line. You can do boy girl or girls vs boys. Take 2 oranges (because they are softer) and decorated them to look like pumpkins and give to the person in front of the line. Say 'GO' and the first person in each line has to start with the orange under their chin and move it to the next person standing next to them under their chin. That person holds onto the orange with their chin until the orange gets down to the end of the line! No hands can be used and if it drops you start all over! So funny and a definite icebreaker for sure!

3. Halloween Charades:
Divide into two teams and have everyone write down 2-3 Halloween inspired objects onto paper. First person from team A has to DESCRIBE the object (from the paper they chose from the hat) until their group guesses the word accurately. Keep drawing from the hat until their time is up. (I usually find that 40 sec is perfect). Then a person from team B goes and does the same thing until time runs out.
Keep track of guesses to see which team wins and use these rounds to play:
Round 1- DESCRIBE the object chosen on paper
Round 2- ACT OUT the word chosen on the paper (no words or sounds)
Round 3- use ONLY ONE WORD to describe the object on paper.

Reuse the same words until u get through all three rounds. Such a funny game, esp with men vs women.

***For kids*** You can also just tape a halloween word on the persons for head (so they won't see) and they have to ask yes or no questions only to figure out what is written.

4. Murder Mafia: (adult game)
Need at least 10people to play. These examples are for a party of 10+ people.
In advance create envelopes with character inside:
2 killers or mafia members
1 detective
1 angel
6+ citizens
1 narrator
Everyone draws a card or envelope and sits The narrator speaks up and announces he is the narrator for the game. He has everyone close eyes.
Asks ONLY the Killers to open and make eye contact with other killer members. All agrees quietly and points to the one individual they want to 'kill' The narrator nods and makes not of the person they chose. They close their eyes.
Next has the detective open his eyes and make contact with the narrator. He points quietly to the person he guesses to be a killer member. The narrator nods yes or no if the detective guessed right or wrong. The detective closes his eyes.
Then he has the angel open his eyes and point to te person he wants to save. The narrator makes note.
He has the whole circle of players open their eyes and the narrator announces who died.
The person dead can no longer speak and can keep their eyes open and observe the rest of the game. They are out.
The whole group starts making guesses as to who the killers could be. People talk and make accusations on who looks guilty.
The citizens can vote on one person to be a killer member, however whoever made the accusation towards one person has to be the one who dies if their guess is inaccurate. Once someone is chosen to be killed off by the citizens, that person then reveals their hand by saying if they were a killer or a citizen. (They do not announce if they were an angel or a detective) that keeps it more fun so that u don't know if those players are still in the game or not)

5. Bobbing for Apples:

This is such a fun tradition and a must do at any kid friendly Halloween party. It's messy but worth it. I found my tin buckets at Home Goods. Fill the festive buckets with plenty of apples and make it a timed game. Who ever bobs for the most wins. Have a dry towel on hand!

6. Pin the Face on the Pumpkin or Ghost:

Blindfolded, have the child try to stick the pumpkins face parts to the pumpkin. All you need is one large pumpkin, black felt with sticky pads on the back and 2 eyes, mouth & a nose.

(This year we are playing with a drawn on chalkboard skeleton and a bow tie or princess crown that they have to place)

7. Mummy Wrap:
I had three teams and divided people up evenly. One person from each team stood in front of their team in a single file line & I gave them toilet paper. I timed 10 sec for each team member to wrap their chosen mummy and then switch and hand off to their next team mate. I let 3-5 min go by, letting each individual wrap their mummy 3-6 times. The judge stopped the teams and picked whoever a team mate or mummy was wrapped the most with toilet paper.

8. Pumpkin Decorating Contest:

Have everyone bring a pumpkin to the party and have them decorate it there with fun props that you provide and the winner gets a prize. Or have the kids make them in advance and vote on the pumpkins to pick the favorite announomously. Vinyl or other stickers is a easy way for kids to decorate

9. Donut on a string
Hang string or twine from different lengths from high above and tie to your favorite doughnuts. Play this fun game blindfolded or not. Make sure those that are playing don't use their hands and the first to finish wins. Make this a relay with teams or a one time individual thing. Take plenty of pictures because this can be hilarious! (and a bit messy)
